Ballroom dance isn't just social; it can also be a competitive sport. Dancesport, as it is known to competitors, is a dazzling combination of music, fashion, friends, party, glitz and glitter, and exhilarating exercise. Dancesport competitions are held all over the country (and locally in Atlanta), and Jari participates in many of them with his students. Pro/Am competitors can range in age from toddlers barely able to walk to one of Jari's students who will be celebrating her 90th birthday this year.
Competitions are geared to each student's age and proficiency level. These levels run from Newcomers (for those who have never participated in a dance competition before) through the various levels of Bronze, Silver and into Open Gold (the ultimate goal of every pro/am competitor). The National Dance Council of America recognizes many competitions throughout the United States. Jari is a registered NDCA competitor and takes his students to a variety of NDCA competitions that will provide them with a challenge, floor experience, and a fun environment.
