Jari was born in the beautiful city of Prague, the capitol of the Czech Republic. He studied electrical engineering and was scouted as a potential professional soccer player until his talent for ballroom dancing was discovered by accident. Then and there, Jari found his passion. Within a few years he became one of the most promising young dancers in his country. While training in Europe, Jari heard about Atlanta and its dance scene and was intrigued, but he never thought that this idea would actually become reality.
In 1993 Jari came to the United States with his partner to pursue his professional career and began teaching at a Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Connecticut. He worked there from 1993 until 1996 when he moved to New York to become an independent instructor. Just one year later, Jari became the co-owner of the very successful Ballroom on Fifth studio in Manhattan. Shortly after 9/11, fate finally struck and Jari ended up in the city that had originally caught his attention years earlier when he was in Europe: Atlanta. Jari officially moved to Atlanta in 2002 to offer International Standard and American Smooth to the South. He is currently an independent instructor based primarily out of Academy Ballroom in Buckhead and will also travel to various studios in the metro-Atlanta area.
Jari has over 20 years of experience in ballroom dancing; in amateur, professional, and pro/am partnerships. He has trained under European coaches Michael and Vicky Barr, Ann Gleave, Karen and Markus Hilton, John Wood, Gianni D'Orio, Andrew Sinkinson and other world-renowned coaches. Jari has also won numerous titles in the United States, Europe, and Canada with his professional partners. In 1999, he and his then partner won the US National Professional Rising Star Couple of the Year. Just one year later, they were 2000 US National Rising Star International Standard Champions.
Besides a very successful professional career, Jari and his students also travel across the United States to numerous competitions and achieve very respectable results. Among the many titles Jari has won with his students, he has five National Pro/Am Championship titles to his credit. Most recently, he and his student, Galina Livitina, won the 2009 US Open to the World Pro/Am Rising Star International Standard Championship title and were 2010 International Standard World Dancesport Championship Finalists at the Ohio Star Ball.
